Venetian Splendour at Bakewell - 18 November 2023

Jewels from the Venetian baroque! The Fiori Musicali Choir are joined by His Majestys Cornetts & Sagbutts in a return visit to Bakewell for brilliant 17th-century music from Venice.

Baroque Venice attracted the greatest musicians of the day. Come and enjoy the opulent 'surround sound' of splendid music by Monteverdi, Schütz & the Gabrielis, written for the great Basilica of St Mark's in Venice. A magnificent autumnal concert with the noble sounds of the HMSC baroque brass filling this beautiful Peak District church set high on the hill in the popular Debyshire town of Bakewell - the perfect setting for inspired ceremonial music from Venetian baroque.

Fiori and HMSC are delighted to be joined for this concert by young musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music - demonstrating that the world of period performance is very much alive in the new generation.
