Cedar Consort

We are a period instrument ensemble that performs music from early baroque to the late classical period. Known for their lively interpretations and desire to share joy in making music, the Cedar Consort designs programmes that encourage a “new look” at both well known favourites and less familiar repertoire. Our historically informed approach seeks to convey the context in which the music was composed, but our performances are very much for today. The core group consists of strings and continuo, yet is flexible depending upon the programme.

We take our name and inspiration from the Cedar tree, a species that embodies the complex web of interdependencies found in nature. Similarly cultural and artistic interconnections make music a wonderful emotional experience.
