Arculo Consort of Viols
Were I a King
Featuring Kim Porter (Alto)
Supported by a grant from Continuo Foundation
Through the music of court composers, we aim to showcase the amazing musical landscape that monarchs of the late renaissance period would have been surrounded by.
With Kim Porter (Alto), we will explore choral works and madrigals of the time, starting and finishing with settings of the titular piece ‘Were I a King’ by William Mundy.
The same text has been set by Kim Porter, who joins us for the whole programme, singing works by Byrd, Tomkins, Ward and Piers Kennedy.
