Bach Mass in B Minor

David Hill, conductor
Bach Mass in B Minor

The Mass in B Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach is considered an all-embracing musical masterpiece created by Bach at the pinnacle of his remarkable career. Beginning with the awe-inspiring Kyrie and ending with the jubilant Dona nobis pacem, there are nine completely unique arias and duets, fourteen impressive ensemble sections for four, five, six, and even eight voices, a broad spectrum of instrumental solos, and an incredible variety of styles.

Yale Schola Cantorum is one of the world’s great chamber choirs – an ensemble (in the words of BBC Music Magazine “full of young, vibrant voices, and they respond with alacrity and sensitivity”. That’s no surprise: these 32 performers have been trained by some of the world’s leading specialists in choral singing and early music. It is sponsored by Yale Institute of Sacred Music and conducted by David Hill. Masaaki Suzuki is the ensemble’s principal guest conductor.

Juilliard415 is the principal period-instrument ensemble of the Juilliard School in New York City. The New York Times said of Julliard415 that the ensemble plays with "poise [and] hair-trigger responsiveness."

Join these two ensembles for a performance of Bach Mass in B Minor, as they tour throughout the UK from London to Edinburgh.
