Orlando Gibbons & William Byrd: Consort music, anthems and motets

A concert to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Gibbons' death in 1625

Keble College Singers
Orlando Gibbons & William Byrd: Consort music, anthems and motets
William Byrd was the grand old man of English music when he collaborated with two of his more junior colleagues in a publication of keyboard music in 1613, when Gibbons was 30 and Byrd over 70. Gibbons was to take over the mantle as the great composer of the Jacobean age, until his sudden and untimely death in Canterbury in 1625.

We celebrate both composers with some of their most fabulous music for six viols, and some of Gibbons' great and most famous anthems.
