Otto Hashmi

Bassano reimagined

Bassano reimagined
Otto Hashmi supports rising young folk group Goblin Band, presenting a new project reimagining the music of Italian renaissance composer Giovanni Bassano (c.1561–1617) for our modern era, radically decoupling early music from the concert hall and questioning our cultural links between past, present, and future.

Otto Hashmi is a recorder player from London. Unwilling to be pigeonholed, his recent work has seen him in such contrasting contexts as playing on-screen for BBC's "Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light" and performing with cult experimental band These New Puritans. His 2023 EP 'Music for the End Times' fused early music recorder harmony with electronic sounds from London's post-covid club scene, and was supported with UK and EU performances including as support for acclaimed jazz musician Shabaka.

  • date Wed, 9 April 2025
  • location Lewes Con Club, Lewes
  • time 6:30pm
  • ticket £12 – £15
