The French Connection
The French Connection at Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick
Alongside the fabulously triumphant and arresting Te Deum by Charpentier (a work whose main theme is still used by the Eurovision Song Contest) are his lesser-known compositions, paired with those of Lully and Delalande. The work of these fine composers epitomises the brilliance of the French baroque in pretty much every form. A further highlight of this programme is a short work by Rameau, which many hail to be the most beautiful piece of music ever written.
