Musica Antica Rotherhithe

Musica Antica Rotherhithe is a mixed ensemble of young and seasoned professional instrumentalists and singers specialising in historical performance. Founded in 2016, we bring regular, accessible and affordable concerts of music from the 15th - 18th Centuries to South East London, particularly championing repertoire currently under-represented in the UK - from the chansons and barzellette of fifteenth century France and Italy to seventeenth-century opera. Highlights of our recent work include the UK premieres of Michelangel Falvetti's Diluvio Universale (2020) and Domenico Belli's Orfeo Dolente (2021), and the release of the first-ever collection of arias from the operas of Francesco Cavalli in a free performing edition that has since been downloaded over 2,000 times.
