Bach wrote more than 200 cantatas, the earliest dating from 1701 in Mühlhausen, but most from his years as Kantor at Leipzig’s Thomaskirche and Nikolaskirche where part of his job was to compose a new cantata every week.
This concert offers two of the most beautiful and celebrated of Bach’s cantatas for solo voice.
