Decameron Musicale

Decameron Musicale
Inspired by Boccaccio’s masterwork Decameron (stories shared between friends sheltering from the Black Death), this programme draws together musical ‘stories’, collected together into five themes: fortune and the capricious effects of fate; virtue and devotion; love, both joyous and tragic; trickery and sin; and finally, intelligence.

The music hails from 14th-century Italy and France, along with sacred music from the cathedrals of England and Medieval music from more distant times and places.

The concert is expected to last approximately one hour, with no interval.
