Full Event Details
The church at Alderton houses a unique wooden 13th-century effigy of alderman and parliamentarian William de Combemartin. This effigy inspires Fiori to perform music by the contemporaneous medieval mystic and healer Hildegard of Bingen – one of the great medical authorities of her day – in celebration of Schweitzer, surgeon & physician. We feature soprano Judit Felszeghy in some of Hildegard’s most inspired and transcendental compositions. And we explore the medieval musical world further with guest player Daniel Sarafini on a rare Billingsgate trumpet, to evoke medieval London. Other instruments in the programme include cornetto, hurdy-gurdy, sagbutt, baroque trumpet & violin.
