Lilium Convallium

Echoes of the Divine

Echoes of the Divine
Lilium Convallium presents 'Echoes of the Divine' as part of the St Clement Danes Sunday Recital Series. 'Echoes of the Divine' follows the influence of Arcangelo Corelli on the trio sonata, from its heyday in Italy and its influence on Couperin through Leclair, Naudot, and eventually Handel. Interspersed by movements from Couperin's 'Apotheosis of Corelli', where the composer arriving at Parnassus is received by the graces, Lilium explores the work of both French and German masters slowly transforming the trio sonata into a mainstay of Baroque instrumental music for a hundred years.

Lilium Convallium is Vicente ChavarrĂa, harpsichord & direction; Abel Balazs and Maxim Del Mar, violins; and Martyna Jankowska, cello.
