About

Otley Baroque brings finely-curated early music performance to the historic and vibrant little town of Otley in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The concert series is organised & directed by baroque violinist Asuka Sumi.

The series hosts seasonal Sunday afternoon concerts in local historic Churches, and its Cafe Baroque series at friendly local cafes.

Otley Baroque presents a weekend full of Venetian Baroque Music played by up-and-coming talents from London and guest Cornetto player, Nicholas Emmerson.

Farsley-born trumpet player Nicholas Emmerson became fascinated by the early wind instrument called ‘Cornetto’ which was popular in the Renaissance and Baroque period.

Nick invites you to embark on an exciting Musical Journey through early 17th century Venice, an unique intersection of various cultures; noisy and vibrant with full of merchants, tourists and traders…

You will hear the fascinating sound of Italian instrumental baroque music which traces its history from folkloric tunes and Mediterranean dances that still resonate to the listeners of the present.

Music by Marini, Castello, Fontana, Rossi and more.
